HTSA Holds Inaugural Tech Forum

Schaumburg, Ill. – The Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA) held its debut Technology Forum here last month under the theme “Smart people getting smarter.”

During the two-day event, held at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg outside Chicago, members and vendors heard peers and third-party experts expound on a range of technical and business development topics including internal operations, labor utilization, networking, measuring project success, and improving efficiencies in implementing control systems.

Several of the skill-driven sessions also focused on the rapidly expanding IoT, helping to prepare attendees to “sell the home of the future,” the group said.

Members shared a wealth of best practices and tactics that could help improve business operations and also help vendors achieve their goals within the buying group, HTSA said. As member Jamie Stephens of Pacific Sound and Video exclaimed, “Seriously, please forward my love to everyone that worked to make this happen. Good job.”

Noted HTSA managing director Bob Hana prior to the event: “We see the Technology Forum as a huge opportunity for our members to convene with the best and brightest thought leaders available, helping to strengthen their technical chops and business functions.”

HTSA is a national buying, marketing, merchandising and educational group for specialty A/V dealers and custom integrators, which generated about $475 million in member sales last year. It recently formed a new joint buying organization with the Nationwide Marketing Group called Home Technology Specialists of Nationwide (HTSN) to serve that organization’s specialty electronics dealers.
