BrandSource Revamps Large-Dealer Division

BrandSource, the $12 billion buying group for independent CE, majap and home-furnishings dealers, is providing added support for its largest retailers.

The former Resource Plus division, typically serving members with annual sales over $20 million, has been renamed BrandSource Power Dealers and will receive enhanced programs and services under BrandSource president Tom Bennet and managing director Bob Thompson.

“Larger dealers have a very unique set of challenges and circumstances,” said Thompson, who will also serve as general manager of the new division. He described these members as leaders in their respective markets, and said they are considered high-volume customers by key vendors.

The division’s strategy, he noted, is to continue smart growth with like-minded BrandSource retailers in the U.S. and Canada.

“The new Power Dealer division is designed to give larger members enhanced programs and services as well as a direct connection with BrandSource leadership to help them run their businesses more successfully and keep them poised for growth,” Thompson said.

Plans call for several programs to gather feedback and insights from division members; division-specific meetings during BrandSource’s bi-annual group gatherings; and an annual stand-alone Power Dealer gathering with regular follow-up conference calls.

“We want a strong line of communication between Power Dealers and BrandSource leadership so we can work together, to respond to the changing market conditions,” Thompson said.

BrandSource, founded in 1969, is a member-owned merchandising group comprised of nearly 4,500 independent dealers across the U.S. and Canada with some 3,000 BrandSource-branded stores in the U.S. Its ProSource specialty CE division represents over 500 dealers and custom integrators generating more than $4 billion in annual sell-through.
