Miami - BrandsMart USA, the regional electronics and appliance discount chain, will open its first small-format store next fall.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, the family-held retailer will occupy a former Linens'N Things storefront in the Dadeland Mall, here.

The two-story, 44,500-square-foot location is about half the size of BrandsMart's typical octagonal megastores, which feature three floors of CE, appliances and housewares.

President Mike Perlman said the company had long coveted the heavily- trafficked Dadeland area, but was precluded by the space requirements of BrandsMart's stores and parking lots, which typically occupy 13 acres per location.

The new store, the NATM dealer's 10th, will sacrifice onsite warehouse space but will still be larger than most competitors, Perlman told the Herald.
