San Francisco - The new Blinkx
app will soon be appearing on Boxee's App Library, offering access to more than
35 million hours of video content on the web directly from a television.
The Blinkx app, which is said to complement other apps already
available on Boxee
, is billed as "the
world's largest and most advanced video search engine."
Users can seamlessly
search, discover and watch professionally produced Internet video from top
Boxee aggregates the best Internet content and locally stored
media and makes them available through an easy-to-use interface that's designed
for a TV and remote.
Boxee is available as a free download for Mac and Windows
computers as well as via D-Link's Boxee Box.
The Blinx app will join popular video, music and photo services,
including Netflix, Vudu, NHL, MLB, Pandora and Flickr, which are already part
of the Boxee aggregation.

The Blinkx app offers three entertainment channels:
Popular: an editorialized roundup of the most
popular videos, including the latest news from Hollywood and human feats.
News: a breaking-news channel featuring top
stories from around the world, culled from the "Inform Me" channel on Blinkx.com.
Fun: a playlist of bloopers, stunts, pranks and
cute animals, drawn from Blinkx Beat.

Blinkx has more than 720 partners for its indexed video and audio
content. It has also opened its TV API to provide partners in the Connected TV
ecosystem access to Blinkx's video index.
