Minneapolis - Best Buy
announced on its Web site this week that it is offering for a limited time free
Geek Squad set-up and installation on the purchase of a Sony Internet TV
powered by Google TV or Sony Google TV powered Blu-ray Disc player.
"We know that consumers are hungry for the type of connected TV
experiences that Sony and Google are bringing to the table," said Mike Vitelli,
Best Buy Americas president. "With our physical retail locations, Best Buy is
uniquely positioned to bring this experience to life for our customers through
our Blue Shirts and Geek Squad Agents. People expect the latest and greatest
home entertainment products from us, but also the expertise and support that
make it easier for them to enjoy these experiences."
Best Buy said purchasers of Sony Internet TVs powered by Google
TV receive consultative support and set-up from a Geek Squad agent. The offer
includes delivery, installation and connection of the new gear to the home
broadband system. Agents will also offer tips and a tutorial to enable
consumers to take advantage of all the features their new sets.
For an unspecified period, Best Buy is the exclusive retailer for
Google TV products from Sony and Logitech. Logitech's Revue set-top box powered
by Google TV was not listed as part of the free installation offer.
Each store will offer a dedicated kiosk to demonstrate and
communicate the new capabilities of the devices.
