Voxx Brings Smartphone Connection To In-Car Video Monitors

Hauppauge, N.Y. – Voxx Electronics has begun shipping its first two in-vehicle monitors with HDMI/MHL inputs to display the content of connected smartphones and tablets.

Two more ship in August. All four feature a built-in DVD player.

The two models currently shipping are the Advent-branded ADVEXL10 and Audiovox-branded VODEX L10, both retailing for a suggested $529 and featuring 10.1-inch overhead monitor and DVD player. Both feature two HDMI/MHL inputs, one on the side and one hidden to keep the wiring discreet.

In August, Voxx will ship the $1,699 Audiovox-brand HR7012D custom headrest monitor with 7-inch LED backlit monitor and built-in DVD. The monitor boasts 800 by 480 resolution, adjustable viewing angles and two wireless remotes.

The $449 Audiovox Movies2 Go AVXMTG13UHD overhead monitor has a 13.3-inch LED backlit display.

With the four monitors, consumers connect any smartphone or tablet with an HDMI/MHL port to display stored or streamed video content, including YouTube and games. A separately sold digital A/V adapter, designed specifically for a particular make/model phone, is also needed.
