Sony Pictures Reveals Job Cuts

Culver City, Calif. — The job-cutting continued at Sony this week, this time at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where according to a report in Variety, approximately 216 people will be let go between June 2 and July 18, along with the company’s entire interactive team, numbering more than 70 people.

Additional layoffs were expected to follow across all divisions, the report said.

Sony’s interactive team produced digital marketing and production for the studio’s commercial projects. It also worked on social games and mobile marketing.

Sony will instead use contracted services outside the company, the report said.
