BMW Offering B&O Edition Of Luxury Vehicle

Deerfield, Ill. — Luxury automaker BMW released a Bang & Olufsen edition of the BMW Individual 6-series Gran Coupe and select M6 Gran Coupe editions exclusively for the U.S. market.

The vehicles are part of the automaker’s BMW Individual Collection, which consists of cars offering higher levels of luxury and an “uncompromising” selection of finishes and equipment for the automaker’s most demanding customers, the companies said.

BMW has offered Bang & Olufsen OEM sound systems since 2011, and the special-edition vehicles feature a Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system.

For the limited-edition vehicles, the sound system gets customized aluminum speaker grilles with an exclusive black brushed finish and LED illumination.

The system features a motorized tweeter that rises from the dashboard and features Acoustic Lens Technology to deliver 180-degree horizontal sound dispersion.

The system also incorporates 16 active speakers, including seven tweeters, seven midrange and two subwoofers, all driven by 1,200 watts of amplification. Noise-compensation technology uses an onboard microphone to adjust sound-system response to compensate for external and internal noise.

Buyers of the Individual 6-series Gran Coupe get a pair of black BeoPlay H6 high-end over-ear headphones, which is finished in the same brushed-aluminum finish as the car’s speaker grilles.

B&O also makes sound systems for select Audi, Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG vehicles.
