Yamaha HTiBs Get New Technologies

Buena Park, Calif. – Yamaha is bringing new technologies to its 2015 lineup of home-theater-in-a-box (HTiB) systems, including built-in Bluetooth, HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2 to all three models and high-resolution audio decoding to one model.

The company’s three new receiver/speaker packages are the $479-suggested YHT-3920UBL, $529 YHT-4920UBL, and $699 YHT-5920UBL. They are shipping.

The top-end model features high-resolution decoding of 192kHz/24-bit FLAC, WAV and AIFF files as well as Apple Lossless and 2.8MHz/5.6 MHz DSD from networked components, PCs and USB-connected devices.

The trio’s HDMI ports use 10.2Mbps HDMI chips, not higher speed 18Gbps chips, so they pass through 4K Ultra HD at 60fps with 4:2:0 color sampling instead of 4:4:4 color sampling.

All models are 5.1-channel systems with powered 100-watt subwoofer, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) room-acoustics correction and system calibration, compressed music enhancer to improve the sound of compressed music, and Virtual Cinema Front technology, which lets users place all five speakers up front to deliver a virtual surround sound. None comes with Blu-ray player.

The top-end YHT-5920UBL features built-in Wi-Fi, AirPlay, vTuner Internet radio, and the Pandora and Spotify music-streaming services. It can be controlled from Yamaha’s free AV Controller App for Apple and Android mobile devices.

The top model also adds high-gloss speakers.
