Questyle Adding High-Resolution Music Portables

Arleta, Calif. – Questyle Audio, the Chinese supplier of audiophile-oriented headphone amps and DACs, will bring its technology to portable high-resolution music players.

The $599 QP1 and $899 QP1R, described as portable music server/digital audio players, are expected to ship in late April. They combine the company’s current-mode headphone amp technology with a high-end DAC and high-resolution music-file decoding. The players deliver native decoding of 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz DSD along with decoding of WAV, FLAC, AIFF and PCM files up to 192kHz/24 bits. Other decoders include MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis.

Both models feature 16GB and 32GB, respectively, of on-board storage, but each also features dual 256GB Micro SD Card slots.

Both players also feature optical output, LCD display, 8- to 10-hour 3000mAh battery, and aluminum-and-glass finish in either champagne gold or space gray.

The high-res portables will join such Questyle products as a $2,495 CMA800i headphone amp/DAC, $1,999 CMA800R headphone amplifier, $1,999 CAS192D USB DAC with native DSD decoding, and $799 desktop USB DAC with headphone amplifier.

The company also offers the $999 T2 wireless transmitter/preamp with USB, coaxial and optical inputs and 24-bit analog-to-digital converter to connect analog sources. It send audio in 48kHz/24-bit form to up to eight $999 R2 wireless receiver/DACs that connect to sound systems. The T2 also sends music wirelessly to the $999 R100, which combines 2×50-watt amp with wireless receiver and DAC, and to the $999 R200 200-watt mono amp with wireless receiver and DAC, to drive passive speakers.

The company is showing its line at this weekend’s CanJam consumer personal-audio show.
