JBL Expands Component Bundle Offerings

Six JBL Performance home theater audio systems are 5.1- and 7.1-channel “home theater on a pallet” systems priced at an approximate $15,000 to $30,000. They are the first such packages available from JBL outside the company’s higher priced Synthesis home theater audio systems.

Like Synthesis systems, all six feature component electronics. Some come with flat speakers that can be mounted on the wall or on pedestals; some come with all in-wall speakers; and some with a mix of on-wall and in-wall speakers. They’re priced under JBL’s Synthesis home theater audio packages and are intended for rooms ranging in size from 3,000 cubic feet to 5,000 cubic feet. Each comes with one to four subwoofers, depending on the system.

All are built around the AV1 processor/controller and the AVA7 seven-channel amp. The AV1 features software-upgradeable 7.1-channel processor with Logic 7, HD-compatible component-video switching, and RS-232 ports for distributed-audio integration. The amp is rated at 7×120 watts into 8 ohms; there is a planned add-on processor, called the BassQ Automatic Room Mode Correction (RMS) processor, to digitally equalize out low-frequency peaks and dips.

The opening price system comes with five in-wall two-way speakers with 7.5-inch woofer and one 12-inch 1,000-watt powered subwoofer. The top-end features six on-wall/pedestal-mount three-way tower speakers with 8-inch woofer, an on-wall center channel, and four 400-watt, 14-inch powered subwoofers. The towers can be stacked on top of the subs, mounted on optional stands, or mounted on the wall.

The new models will be available to Synthesis dealers and other dealers.
