IFA Surprise: Panasonic Relaunches Technics

Berlin — The surprise of this year’s IFA Panasonic press event was the re-introduction of its high-end audio Technics brand. The relaunch was accompanied by a live piano performance by popular Japanese jazz pianist Michiko Ogawa, a former Technics audio engineer who also is director of the new Technics project.

Ogawa unveiled two new Technics systems: the Reference-Class R1 series, which consists of the SE-R1 stereo power amplifier, the SU-R1 network audio control player and piano-black floor-standing SB-R1 speakers, and the Premium-Class C700 series, which includes the ST-C700 stereo integrated amplifier, a network audio player, the SL-C700 CD player and large bookshelf SB-C700 speakers.

U.S. pricing and availability will be announced later.
