High-Res MQA Audio Spreads To Meridian Products

High-resolution audio enthusiasts are getting more options for listening to MQA-encoded music downloads with the launch of firmware upgrades for multiple Meridian Audio products.

Music files encoded in MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology are promoted as delivering master-quality audio performance in files that are smaller than other types of high-resolution music files. In recent weeks, MQA technology has spread to music-download sites and to more home- and portable-audio products.

The Meridian products getting the firmware upgrade are the under-$300 Explorer2 portable USB DAC, Prime headphone amplifier, 808v6 Reference CD player, 818v3 Reference Audio Core, Special Edition DSP speakers, and the 40th Anniversary DSP speakers.

Firmware updates for the portable products will be available for download on Feb. 4 from the support pages of the Meridian web site (www.meridian-audio.com). Updates for Reference products and DSP speakers will be handled directly by Meridian dealers and Meridian customer support.
