CodexNovus Serves It Up


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — CodexNovus' new DMS-6000 Digital Media Server has 6TB of storage and is capable of distributing lossless 5.1- and 7.1-channel surround sound with multiple 1080p video streams over an Ethernet network to client devices in other rooms.

Up to 200 of the servers could potentially be networked for more than a petabyte (1,000TB) of storage. It retails for a suggested $13,999 and complements the company's 1.6TB server/client, which delivers fewer HD streams simultaneously.

The 6000 simultaneously delivers up to eight 1080p video streams, 12 standard-definition video streams, 16 high-definition audio streams or 48 MP3 audio streams to networked CodexNovus client devices.

Niles Ships Touchscreen


Miami — Niles began shipping its $1,299-suggested color touchscreen iRemote TS, a ZigBee-based two-way RF remote that controls the company's IntelliControl ICS multiroom-AV system and HT-MSU Home Theater Main System Unit.

The ZigBee-based $650-suggested HT-MSU incorporates a dealer-installed database of IR codes to integrate the control of IR-controlled components in a home theater system, and it displays the metadata of source components, allowing users to select specific program material via the touchscreen. The remote also stores IR codes for direct control of IR-equipped sources.

ELAN Delivers New Ads, Web Site


LEXINGTON, KY. — ELAN Home Systems launched an integrated marketing communications program that includes consumer ads in print and broadcast media and a new Web site that provides information about ELAN products and dealers and those of ELAN sister companies HomeLogic and Sunfire.

"The overall messaging is 'ELAN is the one company for all entertainment, communications and control needs,'" said Paul Starkey, ELAN EVP of sales and marketing.

The campaign promotes ELAN's recently announced Power of Three initiative, described as bringing together ELAN, Sunfire and HomeLogic to deliver seamless home systems backed by support, training and sales infrastructures.

The new Web site, which reflects the look of the ads, features consumer information nested in expanding levels of detail for easy reading, the company said. The site also features new graphics, flash demos, and easier downloads.
