Markham, Ontario — ATI Technology released today the Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card for notebooks that features the company's Avivo technology.

ATI said Avivo will deliver 1 billion colors to a laptop screen, while the card itself is designed for use in the smallest notebook computers. ATI's notebook vendor launch partners include Hewlett-Packard, Alienware and Acer.

The X1600 uses Microsoft's Shader Model 3.0 and fully supports Direct X and with the new card ATI introduces PowerPlay 6.0 battery-saver technology. The card will also support Microsoft's upcoming Vista operating system.

Other features include:

- Dual-link integrated DVI for support of the highest quality digital panels;

- TSMC's Nexsys 90nm process technology;

- 12 Pixel Shader processors; and five Vertex Shader units.
