SEATTLE – Amazon.com has added CE to the range of pre-owned products it will accept as trade-ins.

Its new Electronics Trade-In Store will accept used tablets, cell phones, MP3 players, cameras, GPS devices and other CE items in exchange for Amazon gift cards. As with its existing trade-in program, which covers video games and DVDs among other items, products can be mixed within a single box and shipping is free, regardless of where they were purchased.

“Technology is constantly evolving and newer, better versions of consumer electronics are introduced all the time,” said CE VP Paul Ryder. “We want to give customers the opportunity to get great value from their used electronics. Hundreds of thousands of customers have already received millions of dollars in gift cards from the other products in our program. The electronics category is a natural extension and we are delighted to offer our customers more trade-in options.”

Customers can check the eligibility of their product on the trade-in sites, click a button to add items to their shipment, and print a pre-paid shipping label. Exchange value is based on product condition, with criteria ranging from “acceptable” to “like new,” and an Amazon gift card will be deposited into the customer’s Amazon.com account, generally in less than 48 hours after the product is received and inspected, which can be used toward the purchase of any item sold on the site.
