Seattle - Amazon.com
has officially taken the wraps off its online mobile store after nearly three
years in beta-test mode.
debuted today at http://wireless.amazon.com
with the same wide selection of
phones, plans, tablets and mobile broadband services from the four major
carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless).
offers include a 14-day low-price guarantee that extends to a dozen websites,
including Best Buy, Car Toys, Costco, RadioShack, Wirefly, Walmart and the
carriers, as well as its own site.
Amazon will also,
for a limited time, offer $25 in free premium apps from the Amazon Appstore
with the purchase of an Android device, and will continue to provide free
two-day shipping within the U.S. and a 30-day return window.
Since its launch
in 2009, the site "has been dedicated to simplifying the process of browsing,
buying and accessorizing cellphones and smartphones," the company said in an
AmazonWireless store blog.
