LAS VEGAS — Lenovo is introducing 20 new consumer
PC products including tablets and Ultrabooks
during International CES, here, this week.
Other additions include all-in-one PCs and traditional
desktops. The company will also enter the smart-TV
market in late 2012, initially only in China, but possiblyoutside
that marketplace at a later date.
Lenovo’s latest tablet is the S2-10 IdeaTab. With the
S2-10 Lenovo will officially rebrand all its tablets with
the IdeaTab name. This will give all tablets a common
identity, said Nick Reynolds, Lenovo’s marketing and
The S2-10 will ship in the second quarter; pricing
was not set.
The tablet will feature the Android 4.0 operating system,
have a 10-inch display, a Qualcomm 8960 1.7Ghz
dual-core Snapdragon processor, 64GB solid-state
drive, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, and front- and rearfacing
It comes with a keyboard docking system that contains
two USB 2.0 ports, a card reader and an additional
battery that will boost its usage time up to 20
Lenovo’s 2012 Ultrabook line up starts with the Idea-
Pad U310 and U410. The starting price is $799 for
both lines, with the U310 having a 13.3-inch display
and the U410 a 14-inch screen. Each is about 18mm
thick and weighs about 3.7 pounds. Battery life is estimated
at eight hours.
The laptops will come in a slew of colors: Aqua Blue,
Cherry Blossom, Graphic Gray, Ruby Red, Sapphire
Blue and Peppermint.
Two new S-series netbooks are on tap, with S200
and S206. Both have similar specification, but the
S200 will be available with Intel dual-core processors,
while the S206 uses AMD dual-core chips.
Each shares an 11.6-inch display and has a fourhour
Lenovo’s Y series, which represents the company’s performance
laptop line, will gain the Y580 and Y480.
These will be available with either 15- or 14-inch displays,
respectively, and have Intel Core processors and Nvidia
graphics. All with come with a DVD drive with an option for
Blu-ray, Dolby Home Theater V4 with JBL speakers and have
a brushed metal cover and palm rest. They will ship in either
steel gray or jet black color configurations.
The new Z series models are the Z580, Z480 and Z380
and will have a $699 starting price.
They come in 13.1-, 14- and 15-inch screen sizes with Intel
processors and integrated graphics or discrete Nvidia Ge-
Force graphics and have the same audio and optical drive
options as the Y Series. Like the Ultrabooks, the Z models
are available in several colors: pretty pink, enamel white, coral
blue, cherry red and graphic gray.
In the all-in-one category Lenovo is introducing the B540
and B340 models.
The B540 has a 23-inch touchscreen with 3D vision, Intel
processors and Lenovo’s OneKey TV technology. OneKey
will switch the device from PC to TV mode with one click.
The B340 is the same, but sports a 21.5 inch touch display.
Both models are bundled with Lenovo developed touch
optimized multimedia applications. The B540 features highend
graphics for gamers, while the B340 has integrated
speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio V2.
In the traditional desktop space Lenovo has the K430 and
The K430 is a premium-priced machine with Intel processors
available, and capable of handling up to 32GB of DDR3
memory, up to 4TB of hard disk storage and 128GB of solid
state disk storage. It uses Intel core processors and supports
dual graphics with Nvidia SLI or ATI CrossFireX.
The H520 is part of Lenovo’s slim line of desktops that are
about half the size of its regular towers. These have a $499
starting price point, come with a DVD burner or an optional
Blu-ray drive, 5.1-channel surround and an HDMI output. It
uses Intel’s Core processors and for graphics has Nvidia’s
GeForce or AMD Radeon discrete graphics.
