ATI Rolls Out New Mobile Card With Avivo

ATI Technology released the Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card for notebooks that features the company's Avivo technology.

ATI said Avivo will deliver 1 billion colors to a laptop screen, while the card itself is designed for use in the smallest notebook computers. ATI's notebook vendor launch partners include Hewlett-Packard, Alienware and Acer.

The X1600 uses Microsoft's Shader Model 3.0 and fully supports Direct X and, with the new card ATI introduces PowerPlay 6.0 battery saver technology. The card will also support Microsoft's upcoming Vista operating system.

Other features include:

  • Dual-link integrated DVI for support of the highest quality digital panels;

  • TSMC's Nexsys 90nm process technology;

  • 12 Pixel Shader processors; and

  • 5 Vertex Shader units

“Acer is committed to empowering our customers by providing notebooks that push the boundaries in performance, quality and power efficiency,” said Campbell Kan, mobile computing head for Acer.
