St. Paul, Minn. — Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and 3M have executed a settlement and license agreement in the wake of a patent dispute involving lithium ion battery cathode materials, the subject of a patent-infringement suit 3M filed In March against Matsushita, Panasonic Corporation of North America and others.

The specifics of the settlement have not been released, but according to a press release Matsushita and Panasonic Corporation of North America are now licensed sources for these lithium ion batteries.
