Long Beach, Calif. — Pioneer Electronics has begun offering firmware updates for all of its 2012 networked audio/video receivers (AVRs) to add HTC Connect technology.
HTC Connect simplifies the Wi-Fi streaming of music from select HTC phones to the DLNA-networked AVRs and ensures reliable performance, Pioneer said. Certification reduces the number of steps that a consumer must take on an HTC phone to initiate streaming to the AVRs, which will appear on an HTC smartphone’s screen as a compatible HTC Connect device for quick selection.
The HTC device will also stream album art and metadata through the AVRs to a connected TV, Pioneer noted.
The firmware update is available for Pioneer- and Elite-branded AVRs as a network-delivered or as an upload via a USB drive.
Pioneer became the first A/V supplier to offer HTC Connect earlier this year with the launch of tabletop SMA wireless speakers. Compatible AVRs include the VSX-822-K, VSX-1022-K, VSX-1122-K, VSX-42, VSX-60, SC-1222-K, SX-1522-K, SC-61, SC-63, SC-65, SC-67 and SC-68 at suggested retails starting at $379.
The AVRs and speakers work with the seven latest HTC series phones, including the HTC One X+, HTC One VX and HTC Droid DNA. A complete list of compatible phones and HTC Connect-certified devices can be found at PioneerElectronics.com/HTC.
