Samsung Techwin Expands CCTV Kits

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. — Samsung Techwin America recently took the wraps off its latest do-it-yourself security products: the all-in-one SDE-4003 and SDE- 5003 CCTV kits.

Both kits aim to reach the sweet spot of an entry-level price and advanced features. They also enable remote monitoring via software for a computer desktop or a free app for an Android or iOS portable device.

The SDE-4003 features four 480TVL cameras, able to mounted up to 200 feet away from the DVR with its included cables. The DVR has a 1TB SATA hard disk and eight channels with BNC inputs. It can accommodate scheduled and motion detection recording, as well as up to 10 remote user connectivity and H.264 videocompression recording.

LED lights on the weather-resistant cameras can illuminate up to 50 feet of viewing in low light or in the night, the company said. Suggested retail is $599.

The SDE-5003 has the same features as the SDE-4003 except that it is sold with eight cameras instead of four, and 16 channels instead of eight The suggested retail increases to $899.

In keeping with making the product ideal for DIY-ers, the kits feature Samsung’s integrated Quick Connect technology, enabling them to automatically configure the user’s home router and manage all required port forwarding. This will ensure that all remote requests to access live feeds are directed to the appropriate connected camera on the network, Samsung said.

The company also provides a free DDNS service to maintain the IP addresses for users who want to access the DVR from outside a home network. Other features include two USB 2.0 ports, a virtual keyboard, USB mouse, remote, multiple search options for video retrieval, thumbnail previews of searches.

They are currently available.

The Samsung SDE-4003 and SDE-5003 are available now and retail for $599.00 and $899.00, respectively.

The company also recently introduced a surveillance camera geared toward outdoor markets. The SCV-3082 dome camera is billed as being “vandal-resistant” and features resolution of 650 lines, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) and SSNRIII (2D+3D Samsung Super Noise Reduction).

The SCV-3082 can reportedly provide images in environments as low light as 0.1 lux. It can switch between day and night viewing, and comes with a 2.8-11mm (3.9x) varifocal lens for wide-angle viewing. Other features include a an aluminum diecast chassis, pan range of 352 degrees, tilt range of 73 degrees, onboard intelligent video analytics, and power via 12-volt DC or 24-volt AC. Pricing and availability weren’t given.
