Voxx Takes Video To New Angles

LAS VEGAS – Voxx is taking the action video camera market on from all angles by introducing at International CES the 360Fly 360-degree camera.

The technology was developed by a group of innovators from Carnegie Melon University and will be carried exclusively by Voxx.

Voxx promised the camera, which makes its debut at International CES this week, will “change the way you capture and share videos and ensure you never miss a moment by Capturing All of Life.”

The “fly’s” field of view captures a complete 360-degree video perspective in one shot, and comes with special software enabling users to view, edit and manipulate images.

This 360Fly video camera will ship in April at a $399 suggested retail, and is small enough to fit in a hand, yet durable enough to be mounted to a motor cross helmet.

It is also water resistant up to 165 feet and does not require an external case or housing.

User-generated content can be instantly shared using the 360Fly iOS and Android app.

Voxx said the 360Fly will allow users to share images to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social-media channels in standard video playback form.

The 360Fly is capable of communicating via Wi- Fi and Bluetooth to other smart devices.

The 360Fly will go up against the comparably priced Ricoh Theta spherical camera, which captures separate 180-degree images in front and behind the camera and stitches the two together to create a spherical image that places the viewer in the center of the action. However, that camera is capable only of still images.

The Voxx 360Fly will capture video under the most difficult circumstances offering action-seeking point-of-view picture shooters an entirely new perspective on the action in front of them and behind them, at the same time.
