SunBriteTV, Soundcast Form Outdoor Alliance

DENVER — Once again, outdoor flat-panel TV continued to see representation at CEDIA Expo 2013 with both SunBriteTV and Seura demonstrating products and programs for the custom channel.

Seura, which has become known as a resource for flat-panel systems for unusual mounting applications, showed a new range of Seura Storm outdoor TVs slated for February deliveries in 42-inch, 47-inch and 55-inch screen sizes. The new models are 40 percent thinner than the previous series.

The company also unveiled a 27-inch Hydra waterproof TV, to join the previous 19-inch model. Both sets are positioned for bathroom or kitchen placements, and are available with a choice of black, white and stainless-steel bezels.

Meanwhile, SunBriteTV and audio equipment maker Soundcast Systems went a step further by announcing the formation of a new Outdoor Entertainment Alliance (OEA). The new promotional partnership will pool the companies’ promotional efforts and spending to spread the word about the growing trend of entertaining outdoors, and all of the new technologies and appliances that go along with it.

Tom Dixon, SunBriteTV marketing VP, said the OEA is expected to dramatically increase consumer awareness using traditional marketing and social-media outreach. It will also establish and position outdoor entertainment products as a viable, stand-alone category in the retail space.

The alliance, he said, will not be open to all players, but will rather include select representatives from each of the different product categories associated with entertaining outdoors. SunBriteTV will represent the allweather TV category, while Soundcast will contribute the outdoor audio representation.

Dixon said the OEA is looking for representatives from the pool, outdoor furniture, grilling and appliance spaces, among others, to round out the package of players.

Planned activities will include consumer cross-promotions, national co-advertising campaigns, co-merchandising with key retailers, joint PR activities and events, promotional event co-marketing, and co-sponsorships of charitable and philanthropic activities.

Dixon said that since SunBriteTV took the direction of mainstreaming its outdoor TV lines, it has seen exponential growth in the past year. The company’s TV lines are now carried by such regional electronics retailers as New York-based PC Richard & Son, HTSA member dealers and independents.

SunBriteTV also showed a wireless HDMI transmitter/ receiver solution that will enable connecting a source component to an outdoor display without the need to run cables. It has a 110-foot range and a $595 entry suggested retail.
