Sony Continues Its Concept Store Buildout

AVENTURA, FLA. — As it prepares to roll out its new, smaller Gallery and boutique stores, Sony Electronics is also planning to update three more flagship Sony Stores to its “concept” format.

The concept showrooms emulate Apple Stores with their bright, open floor plans, on-site support services, and live, table-height displays designed to encourage consumer demos. Sony introduced the design two years ago this month and has since remodeled seven of its 38 locations.

The company said the modular format was “developed with a focus on the guest experience,” and features moveable and changeable walls and color schemes that allow the stores to be reconfigured to highlight specific products, services or content.

The company described their layout as light and bright, with a wide-open storefront that provides shoppers an unobstructed view within. Inside, customers can experience “the full breadth of Sony’s assets … in one great place,” including company recording artists piped through the PA system and Sony Pictures films and PlayStation video games playing on immersive HD and 4K TVs.

Services include delivery and A/V installation, product setup and customization, tech support and training, wireless activation, and in-home consultations.

The latest resets will be in Aventura Mall, Aventura, Fla., on April 23; at Fashion Valley Mall, here, on May 18; and at The Mall at Millenia in Orlando, Fla., in July.
