NEW YORK – Pyle Audio introduced its answer to the action video camera category by unveiling the Hi- Speed HD PSCHD60.
The go-anywhere HD still camera and video camera hybrid was designed for action sports enthusiasts “looking to relive every hairpin turn or monster jump, while sharing their high-resolution photos and videos with family and friends,” the company said.
The Pyle PSCHD is the latest in a rapidly growing subcategory of camcorders first pioneered by GoPro, and currently offering the area’s only significant sales growth.
Pyle is also targeting an audience motivated by value, in asking a $99.95 suggested retail – a significant savings over many rival brands. In addition, the unit comes supplied with a number of mounting accessories that are typically sold separately by other companies.
The camera is equipped with a 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor and is capable of capturing up to FullHD 1080p video at up to a 120 fps rate.
Other features include a 4x zoom lens and built-in invertible 2.5-inch touchscreen LCD display.
The camera can also be operated by a Wi-Fi remote control to wirelessly snap pictures and record video.
Images are stored on a MicroSD card (not supplied), using a slot capable of supporting cards up to 32GB in capacity.
The Pyle Audio PSCHD60 comes equipped with a waterproof case, multiple mounts and clips, allowing it to be mounted to bike handlebars, armbands, helmets and snorkel masks, among other places.
It also includes a two-hour rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and USB/car charging cables.
Pyle is making the PSCHD60 available in five color options: black, gray, silver, red, orange and blue.
