Logitech Bolsters Tablet Accessories

NEWARK, CALIF. — Determined to capture share in the crowded tablet accessories market, Logitech debuted a new Bluetooth speaker and an NFC-capable speakerphone in October.

Under its Ultimate Ears brand, Logitech introduced a scaled-down version of its top-selling UE Boom Bluetooth speaker. The UE Mini Boom features a metal frame, rubber casing, 10-hour battery life, 50-foot wireless range and charging via MicroUSB. After downloading an app, Android and iOS users can pair two Mini Booms together for simultaneous play. It has two 1-inch drivers; max sound level is 78dBA, and frequency range is 150Hz to 18kHz. A built-in mic allows speakerphone functionality.

Five colors are offered for the Mini Boom, which is currently available for a $99.99 suggested retail.

Logitech also introduced the P710e mobile speakerphone, geared toward the enterprise market.

The top of the device slides open to reveal an integrated stand meant for use with a smartphone or tablet. Connectivity options include USB, Bluetooth and nearfield communications (NFC). Logitech said the P710e is the first speakerphone on the market to feature NFC pairing.

The P710e has wideband audio and advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology. It can pair with up to eight Bluetooth devices, and can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Battery life is listed 15 hours.

Suggested retail is $169, with availability scheduled for this month.
