Car Speakers: Pioneer Electronics TS-A1605C 6.5-Inch Component Speaker

Pioneer designed the two-way component-speaker package to play loud and clear with any type of music while hitting a value price point. It produces as much as 2dB more output than competing models with the same input power, the company said.

One reason is a new 0.75-inch soft-dome midrange/tweeter driver with higher sensitivity. The new Multilayer Mica Matrix cone is 30 percent lighter than similar polypropylene cone designs to provide increased accuracy, clarity and sensitivity, the company said. Although lightweight, the cone’s high-density structure handles high levels of power and reduces unwanted flexing for accurate response. Sensitivity is rated at 90dB (1 watt/1 meter).

For smooth off-axis response, the tweeter/ midrange driver uses a wave-guide enclosure to project mid and high frequencies with a wide, uniform dispersion pattern to deliver the best sound to all seating positions.

To complement the midrange/ tweeter driver, a 6.5-inch woofer provides 14 percent more cone area than conventional 6.5-inch woofers while fitting into the same interior cut outs, producing deeper bass reproduction down to 34Hz.

The TS-A-series speaker also features a new aggressive cosmetic design inspired by the faceplates of Pioneer’s 2013 single- CD players.
