As consumer demand for larger screen sizes continues to put a positive light on an otherwise sluggish TV market, LG’s 47-inch 47LA7400, edge-lit Cinema 3D 1080p LED TV with smart-TV capability, ringing in at a $1,799 suggested retail, offers a host of new applications and easy access to content via the company’s advanced Smart TV platform and updated Magic Remote.
The minimalist frame design is said to offer viewers “a greater sense of immersion and streamlined style.” A Magic Stand further enhances the design effect, enabling the screen to appear to be floating.
Smart Control, with its enhanced Home Dashboard and Magic Remote interface, includes a My Interest Cards function, which offers special folders for apps and other content providing seamless access to what is trending on news sites.
Voice Mate recognizes the natural flow of language and offers a new voice search option that filters search results across the LG Smart TV platform.
The improved SmartShare feature will mirror or transfer content from smart devices to the TV screen with various connectivity options, and newly added nearfield communication (NFC) technology – which LG calls its Tag On feature – offers fast wireless and seamless content mirroring from smartphones and other devices by holding a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device against an NFC sticker on the TV to make the connection.
Overall picture quality is enhanced with a LG’s LED Plus edge backlight with local dimming that produces superior picture contrast with deep black levels, and a TruMotion 240Hz refresh rate that reduces blurring.
