Newegg's 350,000-square-foot distribution center in Edison, N.J., services markets from Maine to Virginia.

The receiving area is brimming with "doorbuster" specials, including a 42-inch LCD TV from LG.

Newegg is laying in inventory in advance of Thanksgiving. Last year the New Jersey facility shipped 80,000 packages over Black Friday weekend.

Warehouse manager Kevin Lee checks on one of 25 shipping lanes. Each red container represents an order.

Barcode scanners direct the containers to the appropriate stocking areas.

Newegg uses scan-activated shelf displays for small, high-volume items. The displays indicate which SKUs and what quantities to pull for each order.

Shipping cartons are prepared.
Newegg senior VP Bernard Luthi displays one of several on-carton messages that appear on inner flaps to surprise and delight customers. Missives include "Smile, it's here" and "May contain awesome."

Rolls of bubble wrap line the warehouse floor. Newegg also uses environmentally friendly crushed paper as a packing material, which replaces packing peanuts.

The orders are removed from the containers and packed in cartons.
