Samsung managed to outpace rival Sony by producing the top-selling LCD TV in the 36-inch and above segment with the 40-inch LNS4051D.

Sonys Handycam DCR-DVD105 anchored the firms 2006 DVD camcorder lineup as its entry-level offering when it was introduced at International CES that year at a suggested $500.

The Garmin StreetPilot c330 is one of the longest running hits in the volatile PND market, and it was the star seller for the June 2006-May 2007 period.

The iHome iH5 AM/FM clock radio in black and white versions took the top two spots, respectively, at retail prices that currently range from $82 to $99 at on-line sites.

Western Digital dominated the external hard drive market, grabbing eight of the top 10 slots. Taking the top spot with 6.9 percent of the market share was the 250GB My Book WDG1U2500N. This model was first introduced in March 2006.

Jensens Phase Linears UV7i was one of the first in-dash DVD players to break the $399 price barrier for a name-brand product with a motorized 7-inch monitor.

While Motorola grabbed more than a 50 percent share of the category, Plantronics 510 was the only noise-cancelling model in the top 10 and had the highest suggested retail at $99.95.

Leading the pack in unit volume for the past year, according to The NPD Group, is Maytag with its MFI2568AES, a 24.9-cubic-foot, stainless-steel behemoth that extends the Whirlpool divisions Ice20 external ice- and water-dispensing platform.
