Camera connectivity resource Eyefi revealed Thursday a new cloud-linked service it said gives cameras “smartphone-like” image sharing convenience.

The new Eyefi Cloud offering automatically synchronizes photos to mobile devices to view, edit, and manipulate them on and offline.

The Eyefi service automatically takes transfers, organizes, syncs, and shares and image anytime, anywhere for instant access by smartphones, tablets, PCs or smart TVs, the company said.

Eyefi Cloud is a private photo-centric cloud service designed to deliver superior image quality without the time-consuming processes of manually sending images one by one to multiple devices.

Eyefi Cloud, works with the Eyefi Mobi wireless SD card and Eyefi Mobi apps.

The Eyefi Mobi wireless SD memory card for introduced in June 2013 as a device for simple, instant image transfer from digital cameras to mobile devices.

The new Eyefi Cloud service works with it as well as all new mobile apps for iOS and Android based smartphones and tablets.

Together, the Eyefi product line-up “combines camera quality and mobile convenience with the power of the cloud for the over 500 million digital camera owners throughout the world,” the company said.

“Photo lovers know that life’s most important moments should be captured using a digital camera but it’s difficult to access those shots until long after the images are taken,” said Matt DiMaria, Eyefil CEO. “Eyefi Cloud makes those highest-quality shots available within seconds of them being captured, so photographers can immediately enjoy quality images on the beautiful displays of their smartphone, tablet, PC or smart TV.”

The Eyefi Mobi SD memory card begins the image transfer process within milliseconds of a photo being captured on a digital camera.

Images are automatically and securely transferred to Eyefi’s mobile apps for iOS and Android devices.

Eyefi apps intelligently organize and transfer the images, in full-resolution, to Eyefi Cloud.

For photographers with multiple cameras, Eyefi Cloud automatically merges photos into a single, organized collection. The entire collection is then available on all connected user’s devices.

For customers that do not wish to transfer images over the Internet, Eyefi also introduced Eyefi Desktop Transfer apps for the PC and Mac platforms.

Eyefi Desktop transfer sends images directly from a digital camera equipped with Eyefi Mobi SD memory card to a PC or Mac without the need for a physical cable.

Transferred images are stored on the user’s PC or Mac in a file location of their choice where they can be enjoyed, edited or archived.

Along with Eyefi Cloud, the company introduced a new logo.

Eyefi Mobi wireless SD memory card pricing begins at $49 for the 8GB edition. Customers will find the new Eyefi Mobi apps in the Apple app store, Google Play app store and Amazon Kindle app store.

Included with the new apps, is a three-month membership to the Eyefi Cloud once they activate a new account.

Existing Eyefi Mobi card customers can simply download the new apps and receive a three-month membership.

Twelve-month memberships start at $49 for an unlimited number of photos.

Post Date:

Apr 17 2014 - 1:32pm

Thu, 17 Apr 2014 17:35:07 +0000 gtarr 110625 at http://www.twice.com Fujifilm Adds Tele-Conversion Lens http://www.twice.com/articletype/news/fujifilm-adds-tele-conversion-lens/110616

Valhalla, N.Y. – Fujifilm North America introduce Wednesday a tele-conversion lens designed for its X100 and X100S interchangeable-lens camera series.

Fujifilm’s TCL-X100 tele-conversion lens ($349 suggested retail) was designed for use with its X100 and X100S interchangeable-lens cameras.

Upload Video Image:

Valhalla, N.Y. – Fujifilm North America introduce Wednesday a tele-conversion lens designed for its X100 and X100S interchangeable-lens camera series.

TCL-X100 tele-conversion lens will be available in May in silver and black at a $349 suggested retail. It will attach directly onto the camera to multiply the fixed focal length by approximately 1.4x, converting it from 23mm (35mm in 35mm equivalent) to a 33mm fixed focal length (50mm in 35mm equivalent).

The conversion lens offers Fujifilm’s optical quality to deliver high image resolution, even at the F2.0 wide open aperture setting, while using a special HT-EBC multi-layer coating to minimize ghosting and flare, and retaining all the original optical characteristics of the X100 and X100S, the company said.

Fujifilm said that for proper results using the TCL-X100, the camera’s firmware should be updated (X100: ver2.10 or later /X100S: ver1.20 or later). This will help the camera indicate the option to be selected via the function (Fn) button, and then select the “Tele- Conversion Lens” option in the Fujifilm X100/X100S’s shooting menu.

The TCL-X100 is compatible with the X100/X100S’s hybrid viewfinder and enhances functionality by retaining the auto focusing speed and offering a 5.5-inch macro shooting distance.

With the optical viewfinder selected, icons showing the edge of the frame are displayed, while selecting the electronic viewfinder gives users a 100 percent field of view, the company said.

The TCL-X100 design seamlessly blends with the look and feel of the X100/X100S, and is manufactured using the same materials, textures, colors and finishes as the X100/X100S, Fujifilm said.

Post Date:

Apr 16 2014 - 4:34pm

Wed, 16 Apr 2014 20:35:26 +0000 ljohnston 110616 at http://www.twice.com Tamron Realigns Sales Regions http://www.twice.com/articletype/news/tamron-realigns-sales-regions/110584

Commack, N.Y. — Tamron USA said Monday it has restructured the company’s U.S. operations, merging the responsibilities of the previously separate consumer and industrial sales under two new regional sales managers.

Upload Video Image:

Commack, N.Y. — Tamron USA said Monday it has restructured the company’s U.S. operations, merging the responsibilities of the previously separate consumer and industrial sales under two new regional sales managers.

Under the new structure, recently appointed senior managers Gregg Maniaci and Daniel Davies are now responsible for both the photo imaging optics and the industrial optics divisions of Tamron USA.

Maniaci was promoted to senior manager, Eastern region, and Daniel Davies was promoted to senior manager, Western region, each of whom will oversee sales activity for both the photo imaging and industrial optics divisions in their respective territories.

“As the pace of business in both the B-to-C and B-to-B areas of our operations quickens, we have streamlined the company to a structure that allows sales and profit management of both divisions under one senior manager for each region,” said Tak Inoue, Tamron USA president and CEO. “This change will allow us to react more quickly to the changing business climates in both areas and will provide the company with even better management of profits and customer relations to ensure a healthy outlook in the coming years.”

Gregg Maniaci, Tamron’s new Eastern region sales manager

Daniel Davies, Tamron’s new Western region sales manager

Maniaci is a 26-year photo industry veteran.
