VALHALLA, N.Y. –
Fujifilm North America
recently began
shipping its Instax
Mini 50S instant print
camera for photo
buffs and party revelers
who want a tactile
photo instead of an
image made of electronic
digital bits.
The compact instant
camera, which
carries a $130 suggested
retail, is available in a piano black finish and spits
out a 2.4-inch by 1.8-inch color print to show friends,
making it a potential hit at parties and gatherings. Photographers
can even write a personal message directly
below the image.
The camera uses Fujifilm’s Instax
Mini instant film and adjusts the shutter
speed automatically between 1/3
and 1/400 second, even in low light.
A built-in flash balances automatically
with the background light, and
the self-timer enables shooting two shots with a single
touch of the shutter button.
A close-up function focuses to as close as 11.8-inches
from the lens, for a 2:1 magnification ratio.
Three shooting modes (Auto, Fill-in Flash and Landscape)
are available.
A light/dark function enables +/- 2/3 f-stop compensation.
The camera is powered by two CR2 batteries.
The Instax Mini 50S is equipped with a Fujinon 60mm
lens, with a focus range from 1.9-feet to infinity, and an
ISO setting of 800. The programmed electronic shutter
release offers 1/3 to 1/400 second settings.
