SAN FRANCISCO – Cisco’s Flip video camera
unit said it is updating the onboard software loaded
on each Flip Video camera to further simplify sharing
videos.
Among the changes in the new software version
of the FlipShare software is a new greeting card
feature that lets users create personalized video
greeting cards for friends and family on the holidays
and special occasions.
The FlipShare greeting card feature includes
dozens of new designs ranging from Christmas and
Hanukkah to birthday, graduation and new-baby
greetings, the company said.
Once users select their greeting card design,
they can enter their own personal message to go
along with their accompanying video.
The finished video greeting card can be easily
sent by email to a single recipient, or small to large
groups of emailers using a new FlipShare contacts
feature.
The contacts addition enables Flip users to quickly
import contacts from online email accounts and
create groups of friends and family that can be included
in mailings of shared videos and video cards.
The new FlipShare update also lets users see all
the videos they have shared, the company said.
Flip said it also launched a special Video Greeting
Card app for Facebook, allowing anyone to
create and send video greetings using their favorite
Flip videos or other video footage posted on
Facebook.
The new version of FlipShare will be preloaded
on all new Flip Video cameras beginning December
2. Alternatively, Flip camera users can download
the update for free at

The new Facebook Video Greeting Card App is
