Canon Adds Next-Gen Astronomers' d-SLR

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. – Canon U.S.A. introduced a next-generation d-SLR optimized for use by astronomers.

The EOS 60Da (shipping this month at a $1,500 suggested retail) is the successor to EOS 20Da, and is optimized for shooting through telescopes.

The 60Da features a modified infrared filter and a low-noise sensor with heightened hydrogenalpha sensitivity to capture “red hydrogen emission” nebulae and other cosmic phenomena.

The Canon EOS 60Da features an 18-megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor, a 3-inch articulating1,040,000-dot LCD, enhanced noise reduction, ISO speeds up to 6,400 and expandable to 12,800, and a nine-point autofocus system.
