3 Audio Brands Get Another New President/CEO

Toronto – The board of directors of Paradigm, MartinLogan and Anthem appointed its second new president/CEO in about as many months.

The board hired Christopher R. Leader, effective immediately. Leader most recently was a managing partner of Hi-Beam Consulting, a management-consulting company focused on manufacturing businesses.

Leader replaces Rocco Melchione, who was tapped late last year as president/CEO of the three premium-audio brands. Melchione left, a spokeswoman told TWICE, because “essentially we saw philosophical differences in the direction he was taking the brands.” She declined to elaborate.

At the time of Melchione’s appointment, the company said it would keep specialty audio retailing “front and center.”

Melchione had replaced Tim Valters, who held the position for more than four years.

Leader’s resume includes 25 years in management. “His experience working with companies who sell through specialty dealer networks will be invaluable in his new role,” the brands’ board said. Leader also brings “concentrated experience in operations and manufacturing with a particular emphasis on global manufacturing and growth,” the board added.

Before working at Hi-Beam, Leader was president/COO of Hoshizaki America, a subsidiary of the $2.1 billion Japanese food service equipment manufacturer. He was also operations VP at Skyline, a $665 million designer, producer and marketer of manufactured housing, modular homes and RVs. Skyline is supported by an independent specialty dealer base.

He was also operations VP at Trek Bicycle, which also sells through an independent specialty dealer network.

Leader’s other roles included positions at General Motors and Ford.

The parent of the three audio brands is ShoreView Industries, which owns 100 percent of MartinLogan and more than half of Paradigm Electronics, which includes the Paradigm and Anthem brands. The remaining percentage of Paradigm Electronics is owned by one of the founding partners, Scott Bagby.
