REDMOND, WASH. — Nintendo of America plans a March 28 U.S. launch of its DSi XL handheld system, which features larger screens than its predecessor and e-reader capability.

For e-reading, Nintendo will offer 100 classic books on June 14 at $19.99 for all 100.

The XL’s dual screens are 93 percent larger than the Nintendo DS Lite’s dual screens, and the new ones provide a wider viewing angle. The new system, Wi-Fi-equipped like the Lite, launches in both burgundy and bronze and will come with two pre-installed software titles, Nintendo DSi Browser, and the Flipnote Studio app.

Nintendo DSi XL will also come with a larger pen-like stylus that allows for a more comfortable grip, Nintendo said.
