Virgin Mobile, Boost Launching 4G WiMAX Service

WARREN, N.J. – Virgin Mobile USA
is entering the 4G market with the
launch of the WiMAX-enabled HTC
Evo V 4G Android smartphone and
two data-only devices, all of which will
be available at the end of the month.
For its part, Boost Mobile will also
launch 4G WiMAX service.
Both prepaid brands are owned by
Sprint, and the devices use Sprint service.
For Boost, the HTC Evo Design 4G
Android smartphone will be available
on May 31 for $299 (excluding taxes) at
Boost Mobile’s exclusive retail stores,
select independent wireless dealer locations
nationwide and at
www.boostmobile.com with free shipping. It will be
also be available in June at Best Buy,
Radio Shack and Walmart.
For Virgin service, the HTC Evo V
4G and the two data-only devices will
be available beginning on May 31 at
VirginMobileUSA.com. They will then
be available in June at major retailers
and at select independent dealers nationwide,
the company said.
The Virgin data-only devices are the
$149 Overdrive Pro 3G/4G mobile
hot spot from Sierra Wireless and $99
U600 3G/4G USB stick from Franklin
Wireless. The HTC Evo V 4G Android
smartphone will be available for $299.
