PARK RIDGE, N.J. -Sony announced a summer ship date for its first multihandset cordless phone systems, whose everyday prices will start at about $130.
Sony will ship four QuadraStation 2.4GHz systems, consisting of a base station and remote cordless handset with charging cradle. Each base station can support up to four remote handsets.
Two models feature a corded base station: the SPP-A2780, which has a digital answering machine and will be available for about $200; and the SPP-S2730, available for about $180.
The other models feature cordless base stations. The SPP-A2770 also has a digital answering machine and will retail for about $160. The SPP-S2720 will retail for about $130.
Both models feature a Center Jog Dial navigator with 50-name-and-number dialing directory and 70-name-and-number caller ID memory.
Starting in September, additional cordless handsets for all four Quadra-Station 2.4 models will be sold separately for about $100.
