3rd MediaFLO Debuts

Basking Ridge, N.J. — Verizon Wireless unveiled its third phone to access its MediaFLO-based Mobile TV service. The Motorizr Z6tv will be available Oct. 5 for $179 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement through more than 2,300 Verizon Wireless Communications stores, including those in Circuit City, and at Verizon's Web site. The Z6tv joins the LG VX9400 at $199 and Samsung SCH-u620 at $149.

Tiny Rev. A Modem Bows

San Diego — Novatel's Ovation USB stick modem, said to be the smallest CDMA 1x EV-Do Rev. A wireless modem, will be available this month from Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel. Sprint is pricing it as low as $79 with two-year service contract and rebate, and Verizon will offer it at $149 after rebate and two-year agreement. The modem also stores up to 4GB of data.

Nokia Adds HSDPA

White Plans, N.Y. — Nokia has begun offering a W-CDMA version of its high-end N95 quadband GSM/EDGE phone, which is also the company's first phone with U.S.-banded HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) .

The $699 phone is available unlocked and includes 5-megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss lens, GPS and media player. It also also downloads U.S. maps over the air from Nokia's site to deliver free turn-by-turn driving instructions without voice prompts. For $139 per year, it also delivers driving instructions by voice.
