SECAUCUS, N.J. — Panasonic is shipping this month the first mobile theater-in-a-box, prepackaged DVD system, according to national marketing manager Rob Lopez.

The company is bundling its CX-DV7000 DVD player with its new CY-VMX6800U universal overhead console at a discounted suggested retail price of $1599. The DVD receiver typically sells for $799 and the overhead console ships this month at a standalone suggested retail price of $1199, so the boxed solution offers a $400 discount.

The CX-DV7000 DVD player comes with an external IR sensor and interfaces with Panasonic monitors so that the user can control the DVD player through the monitor. It also offers CD text, anti-shock memory and floating mechanism, automatic disc loading, and 96kHz/24 bit DA converter.
