Next Droid Incredible To Get Global Capability

New York – The
next version of the HTC Droid Incredible for CDMA carrier Verizon Wireless will
be a global-capable model that operates in 3G mode in foreign 2.1GHz HSPA
networks, TWICE learned.

 It will join two other global Android
smartphones in the Verizon lineup. Those are the Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global.

The device, due on
the market in about a month, will also add a front-facing video camera for
video chats, a longer life battery, and a thinner form factor, said an industry
professional with knowledge of the device.

Global-capable
phones from Verizon Wireless make voice calls in more than 220 countries
worldwide, offer data service in more than 200 counties, and offer 3G data
service in 115 countries. Verizon phones that aren’t global-capable make voice
calls and access 2G and 3G data in 40 countries outside the U.S., including
Mexico, Canada, China and India.

The current
touchscreen-only 3G Droid Incredible, which measures 4.63 by 2.3 by 0.47
inches, operates in 800/1,900MHz CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev. A networks. It features
Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.2 OS, 8-megapixel camera,  3.7-inch 480×800 AMOLED screen, 8GB of
internal flash memory, stereo Bluetooth 2.1 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR), Wi-Fi
802.11 b/g, 3G mobile hot spot,  Flash
10.1 support, HTC’s Sense user interface, 312-minute talktime and 146-hour
standby time. It weighs 4.59 ounces.
