MERA To Hold Annual KnowledgeFest

OnStar on All GM Cars

DETROIT — General Motors recently announced it plans to offer OnStar as standard equipment on all its passenger cars by 2007, nearly tripling its yearly output of telematics-enabled vehicles. According to ABI Research, Oyster Bay, N.Y., there are over 3 million telematics subscribers in North America.

New MECP Test Locations Available

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) Mobile Electronics Certified Professionals (MECP) program is now offering computer-based certification testing. The MECP basic, advanced and master installers tests as well as the mobile product specialist test are available through Thompson Prometric’s over 1,000 test centers in North America, said CEA. “Our aim is to make the testing process easier and more convenient for candidates while improving the overall quality of the way we deliver our exams and certificates,” said Jeff Schrum, CEA’s senior manager of industry training.
