JVC Mobile Continues Web Campaign With ‘Carstereoke’

Los Angeles — JVC Mobile Entertainment announced a contest where singing drivers can upload videos of themselves crooning as loudly as possible in their cars to their favorite songs, for a chance to win prizes.

JVC partnered with Spin Magazine, Spin.com and an auto enthusiast video upload site, Streetfire.net, to kick off the “Carstereoke.com contest,” today through August 31.

JVC said it chose this advertising path over traditional campaigns due to the success of its is recent viral video “Turn Me On” which has received 1.86 million hits in less than a month and helped generate 80,000 hits on the www.mobilejvc.com Web site, according to Webtrends, said JVC marketing GM Chad Vogelsong.

The contest will be advertised by print ads, online banner ads, a viral video featuring comedic rock group, Steel Panther and a billboard on the Sunset Strip.

Finalists will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and celebrities, and grand-prize winners will receive a full JVC Mobile car AV system, including the ElKameleon CD/DVD Receiver; a rock star wardrobe makeover at the Rock & Roll Religion store in Hollywood, Calif.; and a Fender Stratocaster guitar.
