FilterStream is offering the Auto AirTamer air purifier to consumer electronics and 12-volt retailers.
The Auto AirTamer creates negative ions that force air pollutants away from the passengers' breathing space. The unit, which was recently sold through Hammacher Schlemmer and Brookstone, has a suggested retail of $49.99. It plugs into a 12-volt power socket and then clips onto to an air vent for added air purification.
A spokesman said that until now, a drawback of car air purifiers was that they did not generate enough power to diffuse the ions throughout the car. The AirTamer achieves this through an attachment that clips onto the air vents.
It is available at www.filterstream.com.
