— Directed Electronics is introducing its first full-color remote transmitters that have a 1-mile range.

Under the new Responder HD series, the two-way transmitters also include a new click wheel on the side of the unit that lets users scroll through various functions and assign their favorites to one of four buttons. For example, the temperature check display can be assigned to a specific button.

The Responder HD transmitters will be available on new combo security/remote start systems under the Viper, Python and Clifford brands, in different styles for each brand. They will carry a street price of $699 each.

Directed is also launching its most powerful amplifier to date — the Orion HCCA50001, rated at 5,000 watts RMS. The Class D mono amplifier is expected to ship in March at a street price of $2,499. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Orion brand.
