Crimestopper To Enter Car MP3, Mobile Video Markets

LAS VEGAS -Car security supplier Crimestopper/Millennium will enter the MP3 and mobile video markets at CES, launching five new in-dash and portable MP3 players, and a full line of mobile multimedia monitors.

Five new MP3 players will be released under the Discovery brand, two by Crimestopper and two by Millennium.

Crimestopper models include the MPCruiseT DIN-sized in-dash CD receiver that plays MP3 CD-R and CD-RW discs, and the UP322 Roam, which is shaped like an audio cassette so that it can be played in any existing home, car or portable cassette player.

The UP322 Roam has 64MB of onboard memory with an MMC slot for up to seven hours of music, high-speed 1-3-Mbps download rate and software for a USB PC interface. It comes with an LCD remote control with advanced playback functions, as well as earphones, rechargeable battery and cigarette lighter adapter.

Under the Millennium brand is the MPCoolT, claimed to be the smallest portable CD-R MP3 player in the world. Housed in a blue and metallic case, it plays CDs and MP3 media from standard 3-inch mini CD-R/CD-RW ISO 9660 discs. Next in the line is the MPFitT, a larger portable unit with higher capacity.

Crimestopper is also releasing a full line of accessories, including car adapters, wireless headphones and blank CD media. Under the Crimestopper brand, the company will release its TechnoVisionT line of mobile video products that will include an in-dash DVD player and five monitors.

The TechnoVisionT DVA-310X is a single-DIN DVD/VCD/CD player designed to integrate with one of the company's new monitors. It features a vibration-resistant playback mechanism, onscreen display, IR remote control with separate IR sensor eye, and a built-in MPEG2 decoder.

New screens include two overhead monitors. The top-end model is a 16:9 aspect TV-7000 universal overhead console with a motorized 7-inch LCD Display. Also new is the TV-6800 overhead console with a fold-down 6.8-inch LCD display that offers 1,152 x 234 (269,568 pixels) resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The TV-5800 is 16:9 LCD headrest monitor with 1,200 x 234 resolution (280,800 pixels), and the TV-5000 is a 5-inch LCD headrest monitor with 4:3 aspect ratio with 960 x 234 resolution (224,640 pixels).

Capping the line is the in-dash TV-7100 7-inch LCD in a motorized DIN chassis for hiding the unit while it is not in use. It includes onscreen display adjustments, high-contrast 16:9 aspect ratio, and an anti-reflection coated LCD screen. n
