Voxx Adds HDMI/MHL

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Voxx Electronics has begun shipping its first two in-vehicle monitors with HDMI/ MHL inputs to display the content of connected smartphones and tablets.

Two more ship in August. All four feature a built-in DVD player.

The two models currently shipping are the Adventbranded ADVEXL10 and Audiovox-branded VODEX L10, both retailing for a suggested $529 and featuring 10.1-inch overhead monitor. Both feature two HDMI/ MHL inputs, one on the side and one hidden to keep the wiring discreet.

In August, Voxx will ship the $1,699 Audiovox-brand HR7012D custom headrest monitor with 7-inch LED backlit monitor and adjustable viewing angles. The $449 Audiovox Movies2 Go AVXMTG13UHD overhead monitor has a 13.3-inch LED backlit display.

MESA Breaks 100

ARVADA, COLO. – The Mobile Electronics Specialists of America (MESA) expanded its membership roster to 100 dealers, up from 43 only 10 months ago, the member-owned buying and marketing group said.

MESA attributed the results in part to the fall 2013 launch of a Gold Membership program, which expanded eligibility to smaller dealers that mainly operate a single store in secondary markets.

Alpine Ups AVN Display Size

TORRANCE, CALIF. – Alpine launched A/V navigation systems with the aftermarket’s largest displays at 9 inches.

They are the $3,000-suggested X009-GM, designed for GM trucks and GM SUVs, and the $2,750 X009U, designed for installation in other trucks and SUVs.

The X009-GM consists of the 9-inch AVN system and custom external key sets for 2007 to 2013 GM trucks and 2007 to 2014 GM SUVs with the low-radio dash style. Additional X009 versions packaged with external keys for other trucks and SUVs will be introduced later this year.

The X009-GM retains many factory vehicle controls through an included iDatalink Maestro module and vehicle-specific T-harness. The module is sold separately with the X009U.

Clarion Adds Google Voice

CYPRESS, CALIF. — Clarion is shipping its NX604 Double DIN Cloud-connected in-dash A/V-navigation system, promoted as the aftermarket’s first head with Google-powered voice control.

It retails at around $900 on an everyday basis. The technology allows for naturally spoken sentences to be recognized without the need to remember specific voice commands.
