Beltronics Bows New Radar Detectors

Beltronics is offering a new line of radar detectors aimed at “young, affluent, tech-savvy” consumers.

Among the 2006 products is a new Road Pack for the top of the line Vector 995 that allows the detector to be hardwired to the fuse box for a “custom installation.” The Road Pack also comes with a SmartPlug cable with the controls located on the plug, within reach of the driver. It also has an amplified speaker so the detector may be heard over the radio. The new Vector 995 Road Pack is expected to ship in February at a suggested retail price of $349.95. It also comes with a travel case that has been added to all Vector products.

Beltronics is also adding a new lower price point to the Vector line with the model 940. The all-band radar and laser detector has a suggested retail price of $169.95.

Also in radar detectors, Whistler said it will show six new models at International CES next month ranging in suggested retail prices from $109 to $399. Escort said it is planning a line modification later in 2006, and Cobra plans to unveil a new line at CES.
