Jabra is offering its newest headset, which it will spotlight at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. Called the BT800 and headlined the “ultimate, fully featured Bluetooth headset,” the next-generation wireless product offers digital signal processing (DSP), display for caller ID and menu, call vibration and five ringtones.
Considered by Jabra to be “a revolutionary combination of design and cutting-edge technology,” the BT800 allows the mobile phone to become the accessory. All features and operations usually associated with the phone are now available from the headset. By using four controls — mute button, jog wheel, and answer and end buttons — access to headset features is said to be easy.
For example, the jog wheel can be chosen to scroll through menu functions in standby mode; then it becomes the volume control during a call. A unique feature of the BT800 is the blue back-lighted display, which shows caller ID or incoming calls. There is no need to look at the phone.
The unit, which is styled to complement modern phone design, offers up to six hours of talk time and up to 125 hours of standby time. Expected launch date is the fourth quarter at a suggested $119 retail.
